A CT of the patient's abdomen is shown on the left. On the right is a normal CT. Move your mouse over the normal CT to find the level that matches the CT on the left and assess the pancreas and kidneys. Note: hypodensity is often associated with necrosis.
There is little if any normal pancreas visible. The pancreatic parenchyma is hypodense compared to normal, consistent with severe pancreatitis. The kidneys show a similar loss of density consistent with acute tubular necrosis.
