Development
Three teams/committees are involved in the oversight, development, and management of the Cancer Data Repository. These are the Patient Data Repository Steering Committee, the Technical Advisory Committee, and the Development and Implementation Team. The charge and membership for these committees is described below. In addition, these groups interact with the Cancer Committee, the Human Investigations Committee, and other related efforts within the institutions.
Patient Data Repository Steering Committee
Charge
- To oversee the development and implementation of a clinical data repository, focusing for the first 24 months on cancer patient data
- To oversee the budget management for the project
- To prioritize the development of new features and capabilities of the system
- To assist in overcoming political barriers or issues related to access to existing or new data streams
- To shape the access philosophy of the unit, including developing and approving policies for investigator access rules, access fees, and reimbursement/funding of the unit
- To review/arbitrate any access decisions/complaints
- To define/designate ancillary ad hoc committees as needed to address specific issues
- To assist in disseminating information about the development process within the Medical Center

Charge
- To provide technical expertise/consultative advice on the design, development, and deployment of the database and application packages
- To propose solutions to technical problems
- To assure the database and application design allows eventual expansion to encompass other diseases
- To act as contact points to other informatics groups within the two institutions
